Summer festival season is in full swing. There is nothing quite like the heat of the summer sun to get residents out of their homes and enjoying some of the best the Greater Richmond area of Virginia has to offer.

Richmond Jazz Festival (Richmond) – Aug 11 – 14
The 7th annual Richmond Jazz festival is returning to further its reputation as one of the pre-eminent music festivals of the east coast. Thousands of fans descent upon the city of Richmond each year to take in some of the keenest musical talents on the scene today. The whole city gets involved with preview events taking place across the different local hotspots of the city. More than just music, the event is also a thrilling showcase of the local cuisine.
Virginia Craft Brewers Festival (Roseland) – August 20
Coming to the Greater Richmond area for its fifth year, festival-goers can enjoy a delicious range of fine brews in a stunning mountain setting. The only sanctioned event of the Virginia Craft Brewers Guild is set to attract thousands of thirsty beer aficionados from around Virginia and surrounding states. The Devils Backbone Basecamp Brewpub and Meadows of Nelson County will host over 80 of the state’s best brewers. There will be plenty of camping options available as well, from simple campsites to a limited number of solid ground shelters.
Lockn’ Music Festival (Arrington) – August 25 – 28
The line-up really sells this one all on its own. Lockn’ festival-goers can experience music from acclaimed bands such as Ween, Phish, My Morning Jacket and Gary Clark, Jr. not to mention a bevy of local, up-and-coming musicians. Beginning in 2013 and now in its 4th year, the Lockn’ festival organizers strive to create the ultimate music festival experience for all that attend. This doesn’t just mean great music, but also beautiful surroundings, good-natured people and exciting local vendors.
